My Power
It is never too late to work on yourself and take responsibility for your own life. Even severe trauma can be worked through. I have two people in particular who I am very impressed with on this front. My father, who at the age of 72 turned his life around after he had gone to psychedelic therapy and confronted his inner demons. He gave up his addictions and his conflict-seeking behavior and put down his armor, so that only his lovely warm self now remains. With renewed space for care, consideration, security and love. The other person who I admire in this context is my wife and partner. Raised as a child of divorce, where mother and father both had new families and where she was both the popular big sibling, but at the same time could very easily feel like a 5th wheel. So although love was certainly not lacking, it was difficult for her to find space for herself and her own needs when she constantly had to adapt to each family. Half a working life and three children later, she stops and revisits her traumas and acts on what her heart has been trying to tell her all these years. A confrontation with her own traumas, a taking responsibility for her own life and a belief in cultivating what she really wanted all along, but didn't dare. Today, she is almost finished as a psychotherapist and a more wonderful mother and partner than ever. Inspired by these two wonderful people, I think I have been able to take care of my own childhood anxiety and shame and become my own adult with a different perspective on life and love for myself and others.
