My Power
Power Woman! What does it really mean to be a Power Woman? For me, that expression is the epitome of energy and strength. I am a woman, I am strong, and I have the will to do whatever I want. That feeling was really awakened in me when, a few years ago, I suddenly found myself alone with two small children. I thought at the time that I'll get through this! Even though I'm alone, it shouldn't limit either me or my children from having a good life. So that became my rule of life. I had good jobs as a finance and accounting manager in a number of exciting companies, my children were given the same opportunities as other children, I took care of my work and my career, and everyday life with shopping, homework, laundry, etc. And when my children grew up and got on well, got educations, found partners, created their own lives - well, it was also with a feeling for me that yes, I made it! I managed to raise my children alone and have a career at the same time - and when you can do that, you are a Power Woman!
Women have so many resources, they can do so much on so many levels, and we need to speak up about that. For example, we need to have many more women on male-dominated boards, and I am sure we will get that when we, as we do in this project, among other things, put women's enormous strengths on the agenda.
I recently became self-employed in finance. At first I was a little worried, would I be able to handle it, etc. Thoughts that were reminiscent of those I had when I became a single mother. But I can do whatever I want, so of course I can handle it - also because I have so much more: I am caring, empathetic, loving and honest and stop if I have doubts and use my ability to always see a problem from multiple sides. So yes, I have the strength, but I also have the other side - all qualities that are also part of being a Power Woman.
